Miss Sheila Goudie

Miss Sheila Goudie

It is with sadness that the club announce that Past Lady Captain Sheila Goudie passed away yesterday (Wednesday 10th of May) following suffering a stroke

Sheila who was 79 had been a member of the club for 50 years having joined in 1973.

An excellent golfer who held a single figure handicap, she was runner up in the ladies’ club championship on numerous occasions and a member of the ladies’ team for many years however it was for her distinguished administration roles that she gained most recognition and acclaim.

Ladies captain in 1981 she would serve as both Captain and Secretary of the Renfrewshire Ladies County as well as coaching convenor of the Scottish Ladies Golf Association.

In 1998 & 1999 she held the highest position in Scottish ladies’ golf as the Chairperson of the Scottish Ladies Golf Association.

In recognition of these achievements and the honour and distinction they brought, the club awarded Sheila honorary membership at the 1999 AGM.

In addition, she was also the first lady at the club to hold the post of Match & Handicap Secretary and achieved the notoriously difficult R&A rules qualification.

Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are known.

Our thoughts are with her good friend Nanette and their families and friends at this sad time.
